Hey guy. Welcome to the Movie Board. I'll just go ahead and tell you that while we appreciate your love for this movie, most everyone here has seen it.

The common opinion of this movie is that it is awesome in Basic Training, and sucks in Viet Nam. I disagree, I love all of it.

Anyhoo, welcome friend.

Thanks! I loved it all except the end of basic training, was not sure that was necessary.

be glad alajones came in to diffuse this ticking time bomb...it could have gotten bad in here,

I too enjoy all of it, mostly because i may be naive, but the basic was so realistic, i assume the Vietnam parts were equally realistic. realism leaves no room for artistic license.

I love that scene.

I wonder how much of that was scripted and how much he just did on his own.

I've read he made most of it up, improvised on the spot. he was originally hired as a technical consultant, until Kubrick found he did it better than any of the actors could have.

For real. This is the best scene IMO

Private Joker: Leonard, if Hartman comes in here and catches us, we'll both be in a world of shite.

Private Gomer Pyle: I *am*... in a world... of shite.
