do you want to be in a leagure where everyone else is out on the west coast? yeah, i know there's Colorado and Utah, but they aren't exactly next door.
pretty sad that Texas screws things up. before colorado, nebraska and A&M left, the league should've kicked Texas out. IMO.

if the pac 16 comes to fruition, OU would likely be in a division with AZ, ASU, TT, UT, OSU, CU, and Utah.
Not a tremendous amount of west coast travel for football anyway.
Interestingly, if this is how the Pac 16 ends up, the west division will be the same as the old Pac-8

What is potentially hilarious in all of this would be Texas following Nebraska to the Big Ten. You know that Tom Osborne would be looking at Deloss Dodds and wondering "WTF do I have to do to get away from this a-hole?"

I hail from OK, but do not currenly live there. I hate the idea actually. What do I, as an OSU alum, have in common with the USC, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, etc fanbases....likely nothing.
Not to mention the 2 hour time change and the travel for non-football sports.

Colorado feels the same way. Somebody's getting fricked and it ain't gonna be us.

OU to CU = 11.5 hours
OU to Utah = 19.25 hours
OU to ASU = 16 hours
OU to UA = 16 hours
as a comparison, Baton Rouge to Columbia, SC is 12 hours. We only make that trip once every 6 years for football. OU fans would have to make those long hauls every other season

This.
It will be like 2 completely separate conferences united only by their love of TV money.
At most you'd have 2 cross divisional games and you don't need the permanent rivalry cross divisional game as none of the cross divisional games would really qualify as rivalries. The AZ schools are rivals with each others and don't really have a rivalry with any of the Cali schools.

Are you kidding me?
Merle Haggard, BAYBEE!

The Pac 12 East will unofficially be known as the Dust Bowl Division and the Pac 12 West will be the Okie Evacuee Paradise Division.
The conference championship game can rotate between Muskogee and Bakersfield and Merle can do the coin flip.

Fan travel isn't much of an issue. Even OU doesn't travel anything like any of the SEC schools. And the ones who do, will do a lot of it regardless.
Keep in mind, the Big 12 only alots something like 3,500 tickets to the away team and those are seldom all used for any game.
As long as OU continues to play Texas in Dallas and OSU, the average OU fan is going to get to travel as much as he wants.
Oh yeah, and you have to figure they'll keep playing Tulsa as well.

do people really think Texas is going to the PAC?
seems like they are refusing to let go of the LHN idea and that makes it impossible
Too bad for Texas in an athletic sense tho - they would be a good fit in many ways with the PAC sensibilities. Politically Austin is more west coast than south and they take a lot of pride in a lot of non football, non basketball sports.
Academically the PAC is a mixed bag, but so was the Big 12 - no change there of any note IMO

I think this is something that is overlooked in this whole deal. Your games out there are going to come on late as frick. Especially a problem in basketball when you're trying to watch your team play a weeknight game and it doesn't start till 11 cst

Texas A&M told Texas to shove off
You think OU is gonna sit there and take it from Bevo too
My guess is OU is trying to get as far away from Texas as possible. There not going to become Texas' lap dog

Good point.
Swap out UT for BYU, then.
Pac 10 West:
Old Pac 8: UW, WSU, UO, OSU, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, USC
Pac 10 East:
UA, ASU, BYU, Utah, CU, OU, OSU, TT
Geographically speaking, that could work. Though Oklahoma would win that division 80% of the time.
