i think there are 2 reasons why they're worth the watch

1. they aren't scholars, but they are much smarter than your average piece of trash. i think that's a major reason why they've sustained themselves

2. they have some personality. jethro in particular is very charismatic. i can see how he'd be hypnotizing for the people in that region, and why he's famous there
