Some notes by observers:
quote:

After one quarter, Maryland already has 12 first downs compared to Miami's three. They're using a bunch of screen passes effectively, the running backs are catching the ball, and O'Brien completed 13 of 17 passes for 137 yards in the new no-huddle, up-tempo offense.

quote:

Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien. With the exception of one interception in the end zone, O'Brien has looked like he has been playing in this offense his entire career, instead of just learning it this offseason.

quote:

Maryland ran 18 more plays than Miami in the first half and racked up 311 total yards already. Miami hasn't been able to stop the onslaught of screen passes, and Maryland's new, no-huddle, up-tempo offense has been dictating the pace all night.

quote:

The pace of this offense is moving quickly, and Miami is having a hard time keeping up.

28 first downs.

Oh, and they had this offensive output in a driving rainstorm.

That does not sound like our offense the last two years.

Multiple red zone failures.

One touchdown after getting into the red zone time and time again.

Multiple passes behind the line of scrimmage on third and long.

Running unsuccessfully for three straight downs in the red zone despite the D stacking the box.

Despite outplaying the opponent, needing scores by the D to help win it.

Despite our O playing a depleted D, having the game go down to the wire.

Gee, that sounds familiar.
