That route adds at least a half hour on to your trip and 71 is getting worse for speed traps. I-49 just had the speed limit raised to 75.
Coming back he will have to go down to Laffy to catch I-10 since the spillway bridge before Krotz Springs is closed for east bound traffic due to resurfacing.

No way! I went to North Lake College in Irving for 2 years, lived another year in Irving and drove Hot Shot for 5 years and I have traveled everyway possible from Baton Rouge to Shreveport to Dallas.
I-10 to I-49 to Arlington is 480 miles.
190 to I-49 to Arlington is 465 miles.
190 to 71 to Bunkie to I-49 to Arlington is 441.
Trust me on this one.
