Ranters Want a Redemption Story: You Just Might Get It

If the Shady4 started the fight with the football players as suggested by the only third party witnesses to date, then the football players were justified in using force. The football players did not have to leave the parking lot or back down. In addition, the football players were justified in using force in defense of other football players if they reasonably believed that intervention was necessary to protect the other person. (Note: If the Shady4 started the fight, they cannot use self-defense to justify their actions.)
If all of the third party witness indicate that the Shady 4 started the fight, as it currently appears, it will be difficult if not impossible for the DA to get a conviction against the football players.
One of the first rules of being a DA is that if you don't think you can get a conviction, you don't file charges.
After over a week of public vilification, redemption for the football players.
Redemption for Jordan Jefferson. Of course, haters gonna hate.

I'm sure the punk jumped out of his truck and started beating up on guys twice his size. Seems reasonable to me.

Agreed, but the force needs to be proportional. Kicking a defenseless man in the head while lying on the ground in the fetal position....you would have a hard time arguing that the force was necessary to defend yourself.
