Possibly, one of the most disturbing things about this is that so many players were breaking the 10:30 curfew and that is a reflection on overall team discipline.

Maybe.

I've heard a little bit of that.

But, I mean -- does that whole team really have a 10:30 p.m. curfew during camp and throughout the season. Is that realistic? Even when they don't have practice the next day????

How can everyone on the team be deprived of the team of the college experience that is legendary at LSU???

Team tradition that the coaches know about. That doesn't mean they can go out and act an arse though.

word it is a yearly ritual of going out the last night of camp and breaking curfew...something the coaches seem to turn their head at.

though going getting into a fight makes it look horrible

This. We had a curfew in college and all the coaches know we never followed that shite on Thursday night. Though, you usually tried to avoid drama on said nights...

The fight that happened is an indication of why there's a curfew in the first place. Nothing good happens after 10:30, and they don't want their players getting into any crap this close to their first game.

I agree. The bad thing is when you break the rules, and get caught, the team is affected. That's why the coaches set the curfew. LSU has no choice but to suspend or kick the players off of the team. I know people will say that's not the answer. But if this would have been any one of us, we would be in jail. If LSU does not want to punish the players, LSU's football program is no better than Ohio State. I know it sounds harsh, but if it were any other team we would say the same.

The military sets the same type of rules. They make these stupid minor rules. The guys in charge normally turn a blind eye but if anyone screws up, the person or the group gets arse raped.

i thought curfew was midnight but bed check was at 10:30?

hence the staff saying all the players were in their bed for bed check.

breaking rules to break more rules is a problem

how much you want to bet that this "tradition" just ended?

Does the staff really go as far as verifying that players are in bed?

i don't know who does it (GA's??) but i thought it was said that all players were in their bed for bed check. i wouldn't think bed checks are uncommon during game weeks or camp.

back in my day at another institution bed check was a cell phone call asking you where the F you were at the moment... nobody really rolled by the room once you were done with camp...

If any of these players feel they can't abide by the rules set forth by the program they are free to leave. They are not being held against their will. There is not one player on this team that's above the rules or bigger than the program. The LSU football program and the high standards it sets for its' athletes is not for everybody. Some people don't have the maturity or the discipline for it. Those that don't should find another program. Perhaps Miami or Auburn.

If you are going to make rules then there should be consequences for breaking them. The question I have is what made these players decide to break the rule.Did they feel from past experiences that the coaching staff really didn't strictly enforce the rules where they would suffer consequences for breaking team rules. The worst thing you can have is inconsistency in enforcing rules. If Miles is going to have players follow the rules then he damn sure better enforce them or the discipline of the team will disintegrate before his eyes.Consistency is the key.Apparently the only consistent thing about discipline at LSU lately has been inconsistency. If you want to destroy a team or individual, just try inconsistency in enforcing rules and standards of behavior.
