Military family? Interesting phrase.

I understand that even Marines are human and that the young will press the limits. I also know that it is understood and to a certain degree expected. I don't know of any commissioned or non commissioned officer that didn't understand and to varing levels approve. Nor do I recall any promotional penalties except in extreme cases. There is a difference between discipline and robotics.
I don't know where your service was, but I am certain that is you reflect back you will recall this.
