Thanks for the recommendations. Maybe I will take another look at Terry Brooks. I read one Brian Lumbley book Blood Brothers, but it has been a while.

Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles, first book The Name of the Wind is excellent. It is the best fantasy I've read not called A Song of Ice and Fire.
I also really enjoyed The Lies of Locke Lamora Scott Lynch. As already posted Malazan Book of the Fallen is good but is a commitment. That shouldn't be a problem though since you enjoyed Wheel of Time.
