I remember in a LSU marketing class in the early 90s we discussed this or something along these lines, but more of that when we moved to the canary yellow the TV networks, especially night games on ESPN, liked the brightness and found it attracted viewers...and marketing of merchandise moved more.

Helmut Hut says we got yellow in 1956 ESPN launched in 1979 It also says Dietzel picked it and it is Green Bay yellow
