Atlanta Braves must trade for Beltran...

They are now only 3.5 games up in the Wildcard with the division pretty much out of sight. Heyward is in a terrible funk, and something needs to be done. This lineup desperately needs a boost.
Mike Minor for Beltran should be the deal. He projects no higher than a #3 starter, and no other team in the league has the depth that the Braves do.
If the Braves do not make the trade, someone else will. And it will either be the Phillies, god help us, or the Giants, who would likely be the Braves opponent in the first round of the playoffs.

Been saying this for about a week. The Braves need him more than anyone else, and the risk of losing him is more or less kissing the World Series goodbye IMO.
Beltran doesn't guarantee them the WS, but no Beltran almost certainly guarantees no WS.

Word here in Houston is that Pence is off the block, but that the Braves are working to put together a pretty tempting package together for him now. At least, that was the talk on sports radio here in Houston yesterday.

I sure hope the giants get him. Their offense is terrible.

Yeah, that's been verified on the ATL end. Can't remember who, but someone said, they "have not ruled out Pence."

That was just the story lead to say that he wasn't on the block for cheap.

We must? Really? No way. We are going to make the playoffs without Beltran. I don't want to give up a top pitching prosepect for a 2 month rental. Let's learn from the Tex deal and not repeat history. I'd much rather have Bourn or Pence.

I'd rather have Upton too. We need one more solid RH relief pitcher to go with a bat so we can make a serious run at it this year.

They're the Brave, they choke every year anyway,so why would it matter?

We won't have to.

Beltran isn't going to get the return they idealized. More like a couple of mid-tier prospects...

Where does Beltran (or Pence, for that matter) really fit with this team?
Sure, if Chipper goes down with an injury and Prado has to move back to third, then one of those two would make a great LF.
The other option is what? Platoon them with Heyward in right? If that's the case, give me someone who will cost a lot less, Marlon Byrd, Reed Johnson or some similar caliber righty.
I'm not averse to giving up a star prospect for a star return but just not a two-month rental. Minor and Schafer for Adam Jones.
Mid-level prospects for Beltran - including Parnell might cause me offer more in return.
Two months of Beltran =/= a young, controllable and inexpensive top lefty pitching prospect.

I hope we make a Schafer, Minor, and J.J. Booker for Pence move and then make a corresponding move to pick up Mike Adams from San Diego - Cory Gearrin & and another mid-tier prospect perhaps?...I would be very happy

No one NEEDS him like the Indians imo. We have a minor league second baseman playing outfield right now! Our hitting has gone to shite as well.
Ill take Beltran or Upton in a heartbeat!

Seems like everyone is beginning to agree with this.

I think San Diego want a lot more than that for Adams. If I recall correctly it seems like there's been talk that it would actually take more to get Adams than Bell.

Beltran in CF is a liability on defense, Mets haven't even put him in CF this year

Not really. He's maybe slightly below average, at worst... and even then, what he does with his bat more than makes up for it.

They don't need to. He played there last year some, and the year before.
