AutoCad for Outdoorsmen

Quick question here,
The otha day someone posted a drawing of a
lean-to stand that they developed using AutoCad.
This got me wondering if this software would be
valuable in creating schematics for box stands, feeders, and all kind of other crap that i build
every year.
I am computer literate and have experience in PETRA and ARCGIS.
I have no experience in Autocad.
Is it something you need to have formal training in?
Are there free downloads?
TIA.
Just trying to find anything to supplement my outdoor obsessions!

Fairly easy to use once you learn the shortcuts. I used it to make plans for my box stand and it worked out well enough. It used to be very easy to get a pirated copy of cad but I haven't checked in a long time.

Where would one go about finding pirated copies of it?
Was there a reason you stopped using it?

I've spent several hours of class learning it for Construction Management and agree with it being easy when you get the hang of the shortcuts. As much time as I spent developing site plans and such, I still don't know a fraction of what the program offers. Not sure about the pirated copies, but maybe a torrent if the basic program could be downloaded. Also, not sure if this works, but if you have a student email address, you might able to DL a 3 month trial version or something similar. Let us know if you figure it out.

Forgot about student copies. If you are a current student you can get a legit copy for probably less than $300. Check out the University book store.

not a student anymore.
I know some students though. I wonder if i could get one of them to get me a copy.
Are those torrents safe?
I usually operate within the confines of the law
so i am pretty ignorant to piracy and the like.

I'd be willing to help you out with a student copy if you decide on that.

If you can't get a copy from a student/torrent, it will cost you out the rear. You'll probably need a 3D version for your needs.
