Rumors are swirling around that Overeem has been pulled from Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix and Lafayette native Daniel Cormier has been promoted to Overeem's spot in the tournament to face Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva.

on my phone and didn't really read the article....

is this for roids or b/c he refused to fight Silva?

Time to scrap this tournament (and Strikeforce altogether) and let the merging/unification bouts begin

They wanted a sept. date and he wanted an oct. date for the silva fight. Overeem was on Ariel Helwani's radio show today and said they threatened to pull him out of the tournament and he told them no and he doesn't like to be threatened. Then later today the rumors started being reported as rumors and everyone is trying to confirm, but it sounds like they were serious.

I guess it's official now. Dana made comments and they had to go forward with the Sept. date, that Overeem is unavailable because of and injured toe that he faught through against Werdum, and that's why they have alternates.

It's a good opportunity for Cormier.

I thought Cormier's standup looked very good against Monson. I think Bigfoots reach might be a problem unless DC can put him on his back.

Well if it's true that his toe is still injured, then I can understand where he's coming from. But if he's trying to make sure all the horse meat is out of his system, then it sucks.

Pezaos stand up is extremely crisp. Then with the reach advantage he has, Cormier is gonna have to get it to the ground. I'm just not sure he has an advantage their either. Pezaos size and effective BJJ could be a nightmare for Cormier.

yeah, Silva will be a very difficult matchup for Cormier. I think he'd actually have a decent chance if he got a shot at Overeem, but Silva is just too well-rounded imo. Regardless, great way for Cormier to make a name for himself....
