Now, find me ONE statement from anybody other than a few Rantards who have only seen him throw in 1 spring game, where Mett has shown that he deserves the starting job over JJ, or even Lee, or our other two freshman.
Wow, so now you are claiming that Mett is not as good as JJ or Lee and even our two incoming freshman are better than him? Some proof please.

And IF he has grade issues (pure speculation) that shows where his work ethic and priorities are.
Now you are making assumptions about his work ethic and priorities based on something that has never been mentioned by anyone except 1 Rantard. Show me anywhere else that has been even mentioned.

But for people to claim that ZM never had a chance or that there was never a competition, are just making ignorant, unsubstantiated remarks.
This is my favorite quote for people to make. I want to see what you have to say when JJ himself proves you wrong on gameday.

It wasn't an open competition. When Miles says JJ starts due to "Body of Work" and JJ even says he's starting because he's been here 3 years, it wasn't open. Not saying it should have been and not saying JJ should not be the starter. He's a senior and will no doubt start every game this year barring injury. I hope he throws for 3K, rushes for 600, and leads LSU to a national title. Just don't sit here and say he won an open competition, because he didn't.

True tiger fan = hoping the starting QB loses the game

You suck at reading comprehension.

I'm not claiming that at all. I'm claiming that, by all accounts, JJ appears to be much improved and well ahead for the starting position. Not one person who has legit info has said that about any of the others.

I said, pure speculation. Did you not read that? Speculation based on the fact that he is in the doghouse with Miles, and others claiming its grades. I even put 'IF' in all caps. Jeez.

Sure it was, but "Body of Work" factors in to it. Mett would have to be a shite ton better to get the start but that doesn't mean that he never had a shot at it.

Then that's not open competition.

Ah, you're one of those affirmative action types.
To hell with letting the most prepared person have the job.

The frick? Open competition would be guys going against the same competition, with the same tools at their disposal, and the player that does the best winning. Making one guy get the starters vs third string while another gets backups against starters and then saying the guy with the disadvantage not only has to be better, but "a shite ton better" is not open competition.

who just can't grasp that Mett IS competing in an open competition
when JJ has 25 yards passing in the third quarter against some team and is 3-10 with 2 INT's, while mett is on the bench... let's rehash this topic again.

I didn't say it was wide open. Advantage should always go to the more experienced, right?

exactly
i'd love to have seen mett against the 2's throwing to the 1's like JJ had the luxury of having in the spring game.
this will all unfold one way or another... either this is all hype with JJ, or he got a frick ton better.
my concern is that he plays like 2010 JJ while mett is wasting away on the bench.

then once again, it's not OPEN.

After the shite last year I don't know how long LM would keep him in there. There was a ton of pressure to play Lee and it finally happened but was limited. I think JJ's leash will be shorter this year, but who knows by how much.

I think les is afraid that he would quit or become a distraction to the rest of the team as a benched senior QB

As a senior he should be more mature than that. If he's not, frick him.
Until something like that happens I will support him.
