Ehhh, I'd honestly say that Ponyo is his weakest film. I just never really bought into it. Yeah the animation was great, but it was nowhere near Mononoke or Spirited Away. I think my major problem was the age of the characters. They were just too young for it to be a love story. 5 year olds have no real concept of true love (when I was 5 I had a hard time processing my parents not always knowing each other), so it made the story less interesting to me.

Well I am a paleontologist so I liked seeing all the Devonian sea creatures. I also love the scene with the wave running. If you know what I mean.
But all Miyazaki are amazing in their own right.
