Did our ranking improve because of the NBA owning us? If so, that says a lot.

No. If you click on the link it shows our ranking in different categories with lower numbers (higher ranks) being better. The Hornets scored well in affordability and bang for the buck, but were 100th in ownership and 97th in Team Track Record (on field success).
