I swear I think I'm dealing with Barack Obama.
Nooo, it's a thing I completely understand. But it's so simplistic and unrealistic, it's stupid to even suggest. And I love how you just glossed over the benefits already given to a football player on full scholarship. Makes me think you never even attended college. If you did, you would understand the value of having your tuition, housing, meals, and books paid for semester to semester. I thought putting a dollar sign behind it might give you a better idea, but apparently not.
ETA: Or maybe daddy paid for it all for you so you're ignorant as to the actual costs of going to school.

There you go again with the ad hominem attacks. I'll just ignore those parts of your comment.
I understand the value of an athletic scholarship--you have been heard loud and clear. However, any form of spending money is not included in an athletic scholarship and being a D1 athlete is practically a job in addition to the necessary schoolwork.
I also think the idea that college athletes are regular students is a fallacy. These athletes are college players first and students second--at least in the major sports. Even though the NCAA hates anyone to even think about college athletes not being students first, college programs admit these players to play a sport, not to be a fantastic student. I think that definitely devalues the academic side of the athletic scholarship offer from the student-athletes' perspective. A college player plays the sport as a job and doesn't have time for much else.

Normally, I would agree with this statement. Getting a college education for free is quiet a perk. But, college band members are paid monthly. And if band members get paid, then so should NCAA athletes. I mean it's not a lot, but I do think athletes should be paid a little something.
