Morning guys,
Looking at getting my parents this wireless router so they can stream netflix through the wii. Just wanted to get a little feedback and have a couple of questions
1.) First of all is streaming netflix through Wii any good? I stream through appletv at home and love it but just wondering about the Wii setup.
2.) Will this router provide enough juice to stream? It will be in the attic approx. 30 feet from the Wii.
Once again thanks for any help

I stream Netflix over wifi on my Wii all of the time. It works great and I have no issues with the picture quality. I would think that your wifi signal would be strong enough. The only way to know for sure is to set it up.

Yeah, just figured I'd ask, trying to keep trips into the attic at a minimum...

Why are you placing the router in the attic? The only way I would do this is there's foam insulation in the rafters. Otherwise, the intense heat in the attic could greatly reduce the useful life of your router.

Good point. I guess the main thing I need to know is the router linked above quality enough to stream netflix..

This would probably have more to do with your ISP speeds and such.

For the price you're paying might as well get a gigabit wireless router.

Is that the Wireless G?

the wii's wireless chip can do 54Mbps. so any 54Mbps router will work fine

The only thing that sucks about wii is that it doesn't display HD movies.

My parents figuring out that you can get wireless internet is mind boggling to them. I'll blow their minds later introducing HD.

This is true, but unless he's getting 54 mbps internet then there's no point in even worrying about that. Just about any router you buy today is capable of handling the speeds needed.
Make sure their internet package is 7+ mbps. Anything lower than that and streaming will be a stretch.

It is. I bought the router linked in the original post.
