Had a decent little trip out yesterday. We got our 60 and headed home.Nothing huge, but we did see another boat catch one that looked to be pushing 7 lbs.

Where did you catch them? Has the water cleared up?

We were south of Hebert's. The further south you went the dirtier it got. It was always fishable though.

With artificial or live bait?

Artificial only. There were several boats around us that seemed to be throwing live shrimp. They had way over their limit on hardheads and gaftop.
I di not see them land one speck.

Who the frick keeps those slimy shits? I was finned by a hardhead once, worst ever.
I might put a little bait shrimp on the tip of my cochahoe, but prefer artificial any day.

The winning trout will come from 0 milemarker and the boat that catches it will be sitting on the spot hours before daylight and they will be drowning small mullets!
Its that or washout, every single year!

It was a joke.

Same here. Two weeks ago we went with a guide out of Hackberry and were forced into the Black Lake area becasue of the wind. 3 of the 5 on the boat was throwing live shrimp and the guide and I were throwing artificial. Shrimp caught catfish and reds, artificial caught reds and flounder. Live bait is my absolute last resort.

I'll start throwing it if others are catching specks or reds on it, but I stick with either a rattle-trap/spin-trap or shrimp tipped cocahoe

I would add sand eel and sparkle beetle to this.
