Just because it's been generous to us doesn't mean it's the best system. If we had a playoff then maybe Auburn in 2004 would gave had a shot (they went 14-0), or in 2003, USC and LSU could have settled everything on the field.

I don't think a playoff system is any better.
I don't want to do anything that might diminish the regular season in any way.

a plus one would have settled those things much better than a playoff would have
playoff lets in 4 undeserving teams or more depending on how many you let in.
in 03 and 04 plus 1 would be great.
05 not so much
06 yes
07 yes
08 no
09 no
10 no
so a plus one is pretty good but still not always better than the bcs currently but if something had to change i would much prefer that over a playoff with 8,16 or however many teams
