It all depends IMO on if that water can find alternate drainage, or just gets stuck here.

I'm not real familiar with the topography of BR, but I'm assuming that in general, the higher ground is closer to the river. Wouldn't any water from a Mississippi River levee breach move east towards the Amite River (and other creeks and streams) and run out to Lake Maurepas?
