BR Road Closure - US 190 Business (River Road)

Northbound and Southbound Outside lanes US 190 Business (River Road) approximately 2000’, starting from Third Street(State Capitol Drive) to North Street in Downtown Baton Rouge will be closed due to High Water Flood Protection and Prevention Activities.

One lane will be closed at all times starting May 10, 2011, Immediately, and continuing during the entire High Water Event.

Detour routes have been set up and wide loads will NOT be allowed.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

I just hope they don't close it completely, that's the way I go home after work. Otherwise I'll have to take Highland, Nicholson or... the interstate

it's only 1 lane ... not a big deal IMO. tons of people at the levees downtown checking out the scenery and taking pics

I noticed this last week when I was on the levee. Around 6pm each evening lots of folks just started coming out of nowhere to look at the high water and take pics.

is this the road that goes right past hte river os is this east of downtown.

I'm not good with north baton rouge streets.

This is the 4-lane road that goes along the river in downtown Baton Rouge. More specifically it's the portion that goes from the capitol annex building all the way down to the old state capitol.
