not to mention even someone that is "well prepared" would probably be out of ammo after the first good gun battle.

Exactly! There is no one to out flank or soften up with artillery in guerrilla warfare. It's not face-to-face in the battle field. It's in the woods/marshes/etc. where hunters have the advantage and numbers.
