Congrats to YG and the team for going 23-3 after starting 15-12 and 0-6 in the SEC. They got the 4th seed in the SEC tournament and will play Georgia at 4 on Thursday. Georgia killed LSU in 3 games early in the season when things weren't going well...maybe they will take advantage of another chance at the Dogs.

Nice ceremony at the park today for the coach...very classy and well done. Best of luck to the coach in retirement.

Now that's coming a long way.

Maybe I'm being a little crazy by thinking it but it would have been nice if Stefni Lotief would have been of the coaches wishing YG good luck. Not going to necessarily place blame on her because LSU may not have approached her about it.

It is almost amazing to see how close they finished to the top:

Final standings

Alabama 19-6 .760
Florida 21-7 .750
Tennessee 20-8 .714
LSU 19-9 .679
Georgia 17-9 .654

LSU finished ahead of Georgia, had the same number of wins as Alabama, and only 2 games behind Florida. Pretty good end to the season...I hope they get a reasonable draw in a regional somewhere.

I don't think there are a lot of positive feelings going in either direction in that realationship...probably good that they left well enough alone.

Looking at the RPIs being a 2 seed at Baylor looks extremely possible with ULL as the 3 seed. But they have a tendency to ship us way out west if we don't host.

They don't really "seed" the teams in each regional. Each regional has one "national seed" (1-16) and the other 3 teams are placed by geography if possible...just like baseball does it.

Granted, if they do it geographically, then Baylor or Texas would seem like likely destinations. Maybe LSU could go to one place and ULL to the other.

Or it could end up being some place bizarre, like the baseball team going to UCLA last year. You just never know...

If Lotief's face would have popped up on the scoreboard the entire stadium would have erupted in a chorus of boos. LSU knows the temperature between Girouard and Lotief.

Doesn't matter what Girouard thinks of Lotief.

Ugh...no reason for this thread to turn into an LSU v ULL bitch fest.

Hope for the team's sake and LSU that it's not bizarre, but fingers crossed that it's UCLA if it is. Baseball team pulled as many fans as UCLA & UC Irving...and the left coast even got into cheering for their teams after hearing continuous LSU cheers. What fun but too bad we lost.

Our softball team should want no part of UCLA, or any pac 10 team, for that matter.

We're probably a #2 seed in Austin, Waco, Norman, or Atlanta.

UCLA's RPI is only 17 right now, but I still agree with you. I would rather take my chances at Baylor, Texas, or Georgia Tech.

I would hope they would stay close but they seem to always send us out west if we don't host.

For general info purposes:

LSU's Softball Post-season sites (when not hosting) It should be noted that last year, had LSU won the regional, they would have been sent to UCLA for the super-regional...

2009 Arizona State
2007 Stanford (regional) Arizona State (super)
2006 Arizona (super)
2004 Baylor (this was the year before softball started the regional/super-regional format)
2003 Texas
2002 ULL
1998 Washington

Need to bring it to Tiger Park and show the nation our premier facilities and fans.

The problem with that is that if we do host, it is almost a guarantee the bastard children to our west in red will show up here AGAIN. Not that I am scared of playing them...I just don't want to have to deal with their fans again. I would almost rather go on the road than have to host those jackasses.

The majority of the ULL fans I ran into at the regional last year were not particularly friendly. They just had that "little man syndrome" chip on their shoulder and they weren't interested in being friendly to LSU people.

And I will never forget the asses that I encountered in 2002 at the regional in Lafayette. On Sunday, LSU was playing Arizona State in the championship round (ULL had been eliminated the day before). This was 2 years after Girouard left to come to LSU. A number of ULL fans showed up to cheer against LSU, which is their right, but they were particularly nasty and rude about it, espeicially to the coach. It was that day that I stopped pulling for ULL in anything...
