My next door neighbor has an offer pending that is probably going to knock about 10% off the value of my house.

Interesting note on 2011 compared to 1989...
C-S 10-City HPI for August 1989 = 82.08
BLS's CPI-U for August 1989 = 124.6
C-S 10-City HPI for February 2011 = 152.70
BLS's CPI-U for February 2011 = 221.309
total rise in real prices over 21.5 yrs. = 4.74%
We're almost back to real home prices from the 1980s, which according to Shiller's longer-term data, are only a few percentage points higher than what real home prices were in 1979 before the Great Tightening.

Good..pretty much means the bubble is deflated.

Best keep that "real" stuff to yourself boy, we don't want no voodoo maths up in this.

I see your point. It's better to stick to something solid like gold. In terms of the "true" price of a home in gold bullion, it has dropped by 50.48% in the last 21.5 years.
August 1989 ( LINK) = $365.37/oz.
February 2011 = $1372.72/oz.
August 1989 Index x 1000 = 224.6 ounces of gold
February 2011 Index x 1000 = 111.2 ounces of gold

Clearly the solution to housing problems is to build houses out of gold.
