JJ can be absolutely shut down. If he has one of his usual off-days, they load the box to stop our run, we lose.
Like we did when Bama shut down the run this year and we lost.... oh wait, JJ aired it out and had his best passing game of his career and we beat them.
Same w/ ole miss.
We he has time, he can make throws. Sure, he's not making them consistently, but he can excel at times.

JJ can lose any game for us.
These statements are true.

We need to go undefeated to win the championship
These are not.

Davey, Mauck, Russell, Flynn... they were all incredibly effective.
And they were all good leaders. A quality that jj lacks. I wish the guy all the luck in the world but for Christ's sake, when you screw up, don't start acting like a 5 yr old who got caught doing something wrong & tries to blame it on his little brother. I can accept the fact that he isn't a world=class qb, nobody is asking him to be but he just needs to own up to his mistakes on the field & stop looking around for someone or something to blame it on.

It's nothing personal but JJ is not a good QB and will not lead LSU to a MNC. We have had one of the worst passing games in the nation the past two years and he is still being defended. I don't care how many wins he has he will never be in the company as JR, Flynn, Davey, Mauck or Tyler. They helped their teams win and JJ holds his team back. He is very lucky LSU is so talented. If he played during the Tyler days his record would be very different.

if he wins a NC as the starting QB he will forever be a legend.. i'm bout to the point of just rallying behind jefferson and his "swag"

oh i am completely agree with what you all are saying.. but if he steps up this season and does great things he will have changed peoples opinions.. even in only his senior year.. it only takes one great season.. but again i totally understand the doubt. his inconsistency on the short passing game is what bothers me most.. that's unacceptable.

This is completely relevant to the question. Mauck is the name most frequently mentioned when speaking of the NC in 2003, but what gets left unsaid ( even if it is understood ) is how the defense just completely shut down EVERYONE that year.
JJ has the luxury of having thrown to LaFell and Tolliver early in his career, having Charles Scott and Stevan Ridley punishing defenders, and utilizing great defenses and special teams to get great field position... not even examining the fact that Josh Jasper attempted more FGs than any kicker in the country when we were on the 8 yard line and couldn't punch it in.
The question, in essence, is EXACTLY how much dirt can a NC ring clean up for him?
ETA: See the post above. It only takes one great season to completely color the opinion of a player...

Great point, I never knew or considered it.

Actually, his 2nd TD was in his 2nd game against Arky in 2008.
C'mon man, it's examining an entire body of work. Everybody else gets it, try to keep up.

All will be forgotten. The negatigers will jump the fence and accuse the remaining negatigers of not being true LSU fans.

He is right there with Ruben Randle

only coach in LSU history to beat Auburn, Florida and Alabama in same season - and he's done it twice; only first-year coach in SEC history to lead team to league's title game; eleven wins over coaches who have won national titles; and the only coach in LSU history to lead Tigers to three-straight top-five final rankings. Oh, he also won a NC.
What "hump" are you saying Coach Miles has to get over?
I didn't say he was a mirror of his head coach in that he'd never make it over the hump.
I said he was a somewhat sloppy caretaker. Which mirrors his coach and his hiring practices immediately prior and throughout his playing career.
You actually quoted what I just rewrote for a 2nd time, so I'm guessing you were looking for any reason to regurgitate his fairly well-chewed and somewhat cud-like resume.
He's here till he doesn't want to be anymore. I get it. I don't trust him. I like him. But he's a sloppy caretaker.
Say whatever you want about it. But don't misconstrue what I said so you can flail at windmills, Kemosabe.

But he's a sloppy caretaker.
In what way?
Sloppy in that he doesn't supervise his players? ala cUM and cBP?
Sloppy in that he doesn't develop his players? I can point to several prospects that were not rated well out of H.S. that received illustrious NFL contracts.
Sloppy in his game management? He's out-coached most of the big coaches in the SEC on several occasions.
I don't get your point in mentioning that.

Remembered that he had lee as a savior of three games last year. That is his legacy. Everyone seems to forget that lee bailed him out last year.
