LSU catcher joke

I'm in an LSU math class right now and the teacher just asked us to explain the Gibbs phenomenon. I said it's when an all-American catcher leaves and we have no one to replace him with.

We have someone to replace him with but he just doesn't have the bat yet to be as effective as gibbs. I would have laughed if I was in the class. Tell one of the girls in your class you want to show her the gibbs phenomeon this weekend.

It's a +4000 math course and therefore I'm the only one in here who's native language is English if you know what I mean.

Offensive output? We are sacrificing everything. If I had to guess, we are tied with Southern and Alcorn for our .900 SBA% and 14 WP/PB in 16 games.

Nope, he just immediately went on to explain what it actually was. The funny part to me was how flat the joke fell. I'm 100% positive no one in the room knew who Micah Gibbs was.
