I always fish a top water lure at the very end of an afternoon of fishing for bass. Always.

I only fish the birds to let the women catch a few fish.....then move to try to catch bigger fish.

Normally when its easy to catch bait, we do crummy fishing, if we have to work for them we usually do well.

My Grandpa use to make us wave at the birds for good luck when we were kids.

I tried that on mine when they were young and they just gave me a WTF look.

My dad believes in everything under the sun. He also never has a "bad" day either. I've never seen him not limit in saltwater or catch fewer then ten bass. Mostly because he is so picky on when and where to go.

sounds like my dad. He is the best fishermen i know and most of the locals say that he is the best trout fishermen down there. I remember he use to drink a budweiser on the way out for luck...just one.

I think it has to do with the age. I've never been able to out fish my dad. However, as I get older I always get a little closer.

Took our own boats to Verret last summer. I got twelve and thought I had him...yet I was wrong.

Yeh I usually start off wearing him out and talking smack then he always closes strong. I have to give him credit he has earned a good reputation. 15 or so years ago Louisiana sportsman featured our area and when the author asked who to interview the locals said my dad in BR.

No eating until you catch a keeper. And I have to wear the same hat.

Several “superstitions” here that are actually based on some degree of scientific truth:

winds out of the east fish bite the least

the activity of the wildlife around the lake to determine how the fishing will be

Spit on your shiner first and you'll catch a big one

Red sky at night, sailors delight
red sky at morn, sailors be warn

unplug my trailer lights everytime I back my boat in

once I catch my first fish, then I've got "the smell" (TWSS) on my hands

I always fish a top water lure at the very end of an afternoon of fishing for bass

dogwood blooming....crappie biting

Mine has no real basis but I have to have my lucky hat and when I was much younger I used to pick the 3 lures (towater, worm, crank) that were going to catch the big one that year on New Years eve. Usually I was right but when you have confidence in a bait you fish it more so….

I've heard both of these...I just bought a used spinning reel on E-Bay which i never do and told my buddy today if we dont catch fish at Toledo in 2 weeks I'm chunking it overboard.

My buddy doesnt like bringing a net and always turns the ice chest facing a certain way.
And listens to the same stupid song before we get to the dock.
I like to wear a certain hat and sometimes a certain fishing shirt, but in the end if you're a good angler you will catch fish...

we will sometimes frick with each other with the banana thing. if the pops is on the boat we won't because "we are fishing not screwing around", but we will bring bananas if we are using more then one boat and try to throw them on the others boat when we get to a good location to jinx them.
Dude that is funny shite and after all its entertainment.
