is this show terrible?

I've watched about three episodes the last few days and so far it seems just awful.

Is there a general consensus on this show? Is there something I'm missing or what?

It's kinda hit and miss, but when it's funny it's really funny.

Good enough to be renewed for 2 more seasons.

I enjoy it. But I am not the biggest fan of the main character, its really his supporting cast that makes it enjoyable for me.

No, he's not.

And to the OP, if you watched the first three episodes, keep watching. I hated Ted during those episodes, he was so whiny and needy, but he gets better.

Barney is not the main character.

It's an okay show, nothing great, nothing horrible.

The "I" in How I Met Your Mother refers to Ted, who is telling the story, and who is also not gay.

And why is NPH's homosexuality being pointed out as a negative for the show? Eh, Bama fan?

It's a bad show. People on here seem to love it for some reason though

ok glad I'm not alone on this one.

And to whoever said it earlier, i didn't watch the first three. Just three random episodes.

It's like it wants to be a smarmier Friends.

I'm sorry but this is one of my favorite shows and I follow a lot of different shows. I don't think any other show has made me laugh more and Barney Stinson is one of the best characters going right now. It is very well written and is really fresh. Watch from beginning, you won't regret it.

Oh and those of you who doubt it so much, it has just been renewed for 2 more seasons. That's 8 seasons. Not a whole lot of shows last that long. Longevity is something that shouldn't be taken lightly in this regard.

I hated Friends, mostly because I couldn't stand Ross.

I actually like this show.

I don't watch the show religiously, but every time I do, it always makes me laugh. I think it's smart, well written, and I like the cast. Probably one of my favorite sitcoms on right now.

it is well written. they do have a few misses every once and a while but overall i really dig this show.

especially how it's set up as far as the narrative/storytelling and how his perception sometimes comes into play vs what really happened or how sometimes he edits material because he's telling the story to his kids.

Barney: "Kiss him! Kiss him!"
Old Ted: "But he wasn't saying 'kiss him.'"
Theater Worker (to Barney): "Sir! You're going to have to leave!"
Barney: "You have to be kissing kidding me!"
