Looking to bring a few kids on a float/paddle trip. Any suggestions? Little bit of a drive (hour or two) is fine....

Google Okatoma river in MS. A bit of a drive but a blast. 3 or 4 small waterfalls to go over. Rope swings and sandbars all along the path.

I think there's a place around Franklinton. Bogachitto River? May actually be in Tylertown, MS.

And I second the reccomendation on Okatoma. It's in Seminary, MS, about 20 minutes north of Hattiesburg on US Hwy 49.

Agree with Okatoma. It's a great trip.
There's a couple other creeks in the area also. Black Creek and Red Creek are around Lumberton.
Neither of those have any of the waterfalls like Okatoma has and they're both more secluded and not as "commercialized" as Okatoma.

The only place you can canoe Black Creek is Brooklyn. You sure can't do it in Lumberton, since it ain't there. LITTLE Black Creek Water Park is near Lumberton, but Little Black Creek is hardly navigable. Black Creek is about 15 miles north in between Purvis and Hattiesburg crossing I-59, but not really navigable until you get to Hwy 49 in Brooklyn.

If you going to go that far you might ad well go over to Sweet Water Canoe Rental. The address says Tylertown but it is really only about 15min. North of Franklinton. I canoe quite a bit and this place us the best, but if you go tell them you want to go down the creek and not the river. Very scenic and the water is great. Heading there next weekend to canoe, camp and fish.

Wolf River is less than an hour from you and all you need to do is show up. It's a good day float trip with little need to paddle, just steer, really good for kids.
