i watched shawshank the other day for the first time in a while and it some glaring issues ... one of which was a Hank williams album that was his greatest hits .. that is all on the Art department and them not doing their homework. That album came out 30 years after the date in the movie.
according to the interwebz hank williams greatest hits was recorded btwn 47 and 52. shawshank takes places in 46 meaning the murder happens then, and his jail stay is after. so it could be consistent.
now if you're talking about hank williams jr, then yes there'd probably be 30 yrs of difference there.

From the internet:
In the library, Heywood is listening to Hank Williams' "Lovesick Blues." He is playing the double LP "Hank Williams 24 Greatest Hits," which was originally released by MGM in 1970. "Lovesick Blues" was recorded long before this, but it is not possible for him to have acquired that particular 1970 double LP.
