I really do not understand the love fest with RB's and 40 times.

Emmit Smith ran a 4.7, and man was he ever terrible

I know you're not saying its ok for a guy to run a slow 40 because Emmitt Smith did. There's no way.

First he says:

"40-yard dash is just a waste of time for NFL prospects."

then says:

"Tenths of a second can mean thousands -- and in some cases millions -- of dollars."

Doesn't sound like a waste of time to me. Maybe he shoulda said that the 40 is not indicative of pro performance. But it's certainly not a waste of time for a prospect.

There point is that 40 times do not translate into pro performance.

Now if we are talking about upfront money that is a different story.

People on the rant act like Ridley has no chance due to not running a 4.5, and that is far from the truth. Now it may hurt his draft status, but once the game starts who cares about a 40.

There are way to many great players WR's and RB's who do not have fast 40's. That is a fact!!

This time every year, there are some who just go full retard on 40 times. Kind of a shame. Some of the very best to ever play the game in the NFL, never had fast 40 times.

Okay, let's talk Darrius Heyward-Bey vs. Devery Henderson.

Who you got?

the last point he makes in the article about devery, colston, meachem, and moore looks nice the way he said it but if you break it down to yards per catch it tells a different story, 24.5 ypc for Henderson and Meachem, and 13 per catch for Colston and Moore.

In 2003 Anquan Boldin, a wide receiver from Florida State, clocked a time of 4.71.
Yea they are alot faster today.
