Piss me off....half of his movies are great, but the others are always over the top terrible.

Saw dreamcatcher last night..no need to explain it...just rediculously stupid.

I think King should stay away from Horro-esque films.

I actually really liked Dreamcatcher. Good cast, and I thought the story was interesting. Oh well, to each his own I guess. "I Dudditz"

I thought the same exact thing when I saw Dreamcatchers was on Netflix last night. That movie sucks.

You realize that these films are adaptations based on his novels, right?

And it's Stephen.

sorry to burst your bubble but not every steven king book turned into a movie is going to be as good as the shining... dreamcatcher was really interesting FWIW. I liked it.

I don't think he does.

Link? I can think of a handful that are pretty good. These would be the top:

Shawshank

At least one thing notable about Stephen King movies -- without them we would never have had this Variety review of Cat's Eye:

"A Stephen King filmette, from his novelette, which will sell tickettes, but not without regrettes."

And I'm not arguing that Dreamcatcher the movie didn't suck because it did. However, I am not going to blame this on King without having read the novel. If the novel is good (which I heard it is) then the movie sucking can be based on a few things:

1) bad screen adaptation
2) bad directing
3) some books just aren't going to be good movies

Meh. It was kind of OK. I guess anything that happens in Trapingus Parish is interesting.

The Shining?

I think the Shining is one of the most overrated movies of all time. It's WAYYYY too over the top. Still, it gave me the shits when I was a kid and does have some truly terrifying stuff in it, so I am happy to add it to my list. I thought the miniseries they made was much truer to the novel, though.

I liked the book, Dreamcatchers. Never saw the movie.

I really want to see them make a movie out of Bag of Bones. That was to me, one of his best novels.

Sleepwalkers is, almost 20 years later, still the dumbest movie I have ever paid to watch in a movie theater.

Agreed.
But, as a movie it was definitely a good one, and classic in a sense that it has become part of pop culture, some of those scenes. While the merits can be argued, there's no arguing that "Heeeer's Johnnny!!" is a part of the collective cinematic consciousness.

And The Shining was no Maximum Overdrive.

I was disappointed with Hearts in Atlantis, as that really just has become my favorite King book.

Bag of Bones is good too.

I also wish they would make a Gerald's Game movie.

I actually liked it, from what I remember. It's been at least 5 years since I've seen it.
