These two races will set the lineup for the Daytona.

This is the only time during the year that NASCAR does this, but a sort of heat race is common in many other forms of racing. Makes for some extra drama.

Let's go Dave Blaney

Link? Is there a direct link to MRN broadcast or do you have to go through an affiliate?

Thanks, the few I tried were not airing the race through their internet stream.

In a backup car so he had to start at the tail.

I didn't know they required it for the duel too. So no matter what happens in this duel, he will still start in the back sunday?

Yep, he's gonna start 43rd Sunday. I really don't know why he's racing today

Prize money, laps in the car since he didn't get to practice in it, etc

Many reasons for him to race

Isn't this the car he's racing in the 500 now?

These rules are just dumb and don't make sense. He won the pole for Sunday's race. Had he not wrecked, would he have started in the pole Sunday no matter the outcome of today's duels.

The worst part about it is Martin Truex was in the wreck with him yesterday and doesn't have to go to the back of the 500. He's using a backup car, if he wins Duel #2, he'll start 3rd Sunday.
