They are talking about how great of a fighter he was. When they rate Ali, they're not talking about the Ali who fought Holmes and Berbick, are they? When they rate Louis, they're not talking about the Louis that fought Marciano, are they? It's the same thing. If you think Tyson in his prime is the greatest heavyweight ever, that's up to you. But you're going to have to face the fact that just about everybody with an informed opinion disagrees strongly with you.

What is your definition of a great fighter? Was he chopped liver? No. Was he on the level of even the 2nd tier guys during the Ali/Frazier era like Shavers, Norton, and Quarry? Absolutely not.
