Just curious, as most look at college baseball as a 'club sport' which has a majority regional fanbase and watered down talent after MLB takes what it wants. I know most schools, if not all, lose money. With LSU's following, does anyone know if they make any money?

It's one of the few schools that the baseball team pulls in a profit, so yes. Some one can bring in the details but this is what I remember. I think Nebraska is the other? I may be wrong and there might be a couple others but I can't remember.

Pretty sure we make a ton. That's the reasoning behind the new stadium and suites

Do baseball players get free rides? I know for a long time only partial scholarships were given.

You hope Cal dropping baseball is an aberration because I would hate to see college baseball lose more teams - Cal dropping baseball is huge, when a team from a premiere conference drops baseball all schools better be concerned.

In a way, the changes to help northern teams might need to continue because if you push the season back the northern teams would be more willing to fund these sports even more. You need a Big 10 to get better and more competitive in baseball otherwise it might turn into a southern sport only.

I don't think so. Baseball doesn't get very many scholarships as it is so they're forced to split them up.

You basically have to be a superstar to get a full ride. I played in high school with a guy that was drafted in the first round, and he was offered a full ride, but that was rare. The TOPS program helps LSU a lot with the lack of scholarships for baseball.

Trust me, Beau was never coming to LSU. Would have been a great pitcher and position player for LSU, but Beau wasn't made to be a college student.

Yeah I knew he'd be drafted too high to make it to campus. I watched people cheer at a game in high school when our beat player grounded out against him because no one could even touch his pitches

Who'd you play for? I can remember playing Kennedy in the playoffs our senior year and their fans cheered when they fouled a ball off.

I'm pretty sure they make some profit ,but it's not as much as most of us would think. Data was shown on here a few years back.

If I'm not mistaken, Todd walker is the only player to ever get a full ride in baseball, rightfully so

11.7 and the rosters have been trimmed. You have to be a fricking wizard to make all of that shite work when you're singing top classes.
