Do you guys think this is legit? I would have never guessed Woods would be so low in the bench. And Paul Hamm is fricking jacked, no way he does just 165.

Take Tiger Woods for example, according to Golf Pro Magazine 2001, CA Tiger Woods was reported to bench press 190lbs

Take another athlete like Paul Hamm from Gymnastics, the Olympic Committe reported him to bench 165lbs.

at people who believe the bench press is a good measure of someone's strength.

Woods can definitely bench more than that.

He probably very rarely does it since he's training more for flexibility and golf strength

I just don't know why you're surprised that either of them would have small bench maxes. I'd be surprised if either of them benched more than once a weak; it's just not a lift that is beneficial for their sport. I bet both can do a shite ton of pullups.

Yeah, but considering that many average people could walk in the gym for the first time and 165, it's still pretty low.

Great test of strength or not.

I would assume they can bench due to their chest size. Take Hamm for example, you don't get a large chest like that w/o doing some sort of chest exercise. Sure he may do push ups but push ups will boost bench strength as well

I'd assume his chest size is mainly due to shoulder exercises as well as I bet he does a shite-ton of flys.

Also, like someone mentioned, it's possible they can do more but their trainers won't allow it due to possible decreases in flexibility and rotational strength.
