Thornton has been slumping lately broski. Jelly Belly was the hot hand that night but we didn't give him the ball enough late.

I'm a thornton homer, but this is dead wrong
Posted on 2/10/11 at 12:53 pm to nicholastiger
yea maybe we could use him to miss a couple layups for us

I love thornton, however he is a little off lately so I see why he did not play. Better question is willie green or even david west have a bad game shooting they still play but Thornton is never given a chance to fight his way through a slump. Trade him or play, dont waste his talent

Anybody have the stat of our record when Thornton plays 20 minutes or more? I think we only have like 1 loss.

Are missed layups really becoming the go to thing for people to needle Thornton with?
Posted on 2/10/11 at 1:51 pm to Eman5805
Especially when it was a goaltend and not a missed layup

Dont worry. It's just that rajuncajun poster. He doesn't know shite about basketball. Needs to stay over on the saints board

If anyone saw the pregame chat with Monty, he discussed the lineup changes (with Green and Sasha starting) and he got a bit ticked. He mentioned that it was about starting and playing the guys who were best for the team and not "the most popular player."
This is only my opinion, but I don't see Marcus here next year. I don't think coach likes getting asked about him all the time, and I think in his mind all the attention on MT is taking away from the plan that he has for the team going forward.
The problem is, you need fans in the seats and it would be very difficult for him to move Marcus without some backlash. Again, these are only my opinions.

I like Monty...but at this moment...he is being stubborn with the whole Marcus situation..he has buried his feet in the sand and trying to prove the team doesn't need him and that he is correct...and when we lose..its why he gets so annoyed when asked about mt5...because he's wanting to bad to prove everyone wrong

Hornets win by 2 if West makes the game winner... See how that works???
ETA: Its only talked about if we lose and Thornton didn't play much, but during the game thread, no one even talked about thorntonino... because we were going to win... i would get ticked if I was Monty too... I'm trying to win games, that should satisfy fans more than any favorite player but giving him at least 15 should appease them or more... I'll say at least 20.... unless he's on fire

When did I blame last nights loss on lack of Thornton? I was just saying my theory on why Monty is getting annoyed/lack of mt5.

Nah, not you.. I'm just surprised no one has said that to the OP
I edited my post with my real opine

I know it's been stated before...but the difference between Jack, Green, Belli, and Marcus is very small.
The one real difference is...3 of the 4 seem to get multiple chances to get the groove of the game, shoot out of slumps, etc.
Like I said I like Monty...but I think he is really trying to prove to everyone mt5 isn't the answer and everytime he struggles he can yank him with a "see I told you so" type of attitude

I was thinking the same about the last part but I don't think Monty is like that though...

I've stated before that I think Monty would dance a fricking jig at midcourt if Marcus would only be consistent offensively and defensively. Then he would have a fan-favorite that would be a legit threat. Plus, you package him as a "starter" for the bench (Manu-esque) and your fans and press back off.
But he isn't, and new fans who don't know basketball still want to know why he doesn't play. Local media panders to the crowd and the crowd wants to know why he doesn't play. I really think it's getting to a head and Monty is gonna blow. And soon.

quote:Why are these exclusive? How many LA fans have Kobe as their favorite player? I'm not saying Thornton=Kobe, just saying they're not necessarily exclusive.
