How can you support a coach who doesn't have the gumption to bench guys who continously jack up ridiculous 3 pointers with 20+ seconds left on the shot clock?

because if he benched them then there would be no one left to play

But doesn't that show this guy has no control over the team? Hell there aren't many things a coach can directly control, but playing sound disciplined basketball is one of them.

I watched the Tigers for the first time yesterday against MSU. That is the worst team I have ever seen wearing the purple and gold....going back to the early Press Maravich years.

Trent Johnson has a constant case of the "red arse".
His team plays with no discipline. They could not even get a shot off with 9 seconds left at the end of the game.

I hope we get someone else because this guy cannot coach or motivate or recruit. I am sick of the excuses.

lulz, you watched 1 game where they lost by 1 point and you determined its the worst team they've ever had?

Lot's of other issues with Trent that concern me much more than this. I really only recall about 2 three point shots the whole game I thought could be considered ridiculous.

The rest were good open looks that the kids taking them hav shown they could make earlier in the year. They just aren't anymore.

I'd much rather take a good open 3 when we can get it. In the offense Trent runs against man, and the fact that we have little post presence, there's no garauntee we're gonna get another open look grinding out a possession in an offense we don't have the personnel to run.

IMHO that's not the problem. I'd be glad to discuss the real issues.

This is my biggest issue with TJ. When you cannot compete like we can't, the coach can slow the game down by running some type of offense and shooting every time with less then 10 on the shot clock. We continue to make one pass and shoot bombs. Makes no sense. TJ's philosophy seems to be shoot and hope it goes in. Note to TJ MT5 is gone.

Much bigger issue with the offense he chooses to run. I'm not a big believer at all in just grinding out an offense and forcing a shot as the clock runs down just to shorten the game. I'm all for taking the open shot when you get it.

However, running an offense based off high post screens and weaves when we have no on on the team that handles the ball well enough to excecute this offense (except Bass who can't shoot or finish)is my problem, not shooting open 3's.

I know lots of college teams run this very offense, but most of them have kids who can make it work. We don't.

We, IMHO need to spreat it out, ditch the ball screens and run off-ball screens and curls and shuffle cuts.

Damn man, you must know what you're talking about to be so sure what the "real problem" is? What NCAA team do you coach again? Or are you coaching in the NBA?

Well shite what more does he need to watch?

Yesteday's game was a collection of what we've been seeing the whole season, since game one.

ETA: I'll be nice

I'm not sure if I would be classified as a TJ supporter, but it's ridiculous to fire someone after 3 seasons. Especially when he won the conference in one of those yrs. Everything I've read on this board by reasonable people is if the team plays this poorly next yr then look into a coaching change. The over reaction by alot of fans is a little silly only 2 1/2 yrs into his tenure here.

I guess I need to but IMHO before every phrase now but no doubt Trent knows more about the game than I.

But I love LSU hoops and I invest alot of time, passion and money in it and I have an opinion....that's all.

Most people that post here have the common sense to realize that everything that everybody types is opinion.

For some reason, if you and george disagree on a topic, he pulls that card out. It's a method of social retardation because he has the inability to realize that not everybody is going to share his opinion in this world. There's quite a few like him on this board.
