Not sure why anyone would be upset...

with the bball team after this game.
All things considered, they played pretty well. Turner had a bad shooting day. It happens, but he is the most skilled player we have. He actually showed signs of a pretty good post-up game, which is a really advanced for a shooting guard at this level.
A healthy Storm Warren would drastically improve our post defense. He's the strongest post player on our team, and he's also the best shot blocker.
Stringer played his most efficient game as a point guard today. He still needs to work on shot selection, but he scored in the paint today did his best job of the season of kicking the ball out to shooters.
Garrett Green pisses me off. If I were Trent Johnson, I wouldn't allow him to shoot an outside shot. If he makes one shot, five more are going up whether he is open or not.
I wish we would have gotten this one today. We're more than likely not going to win on the road, and State was playing without Ravern Johnson. Having said that, Sidney ate us alive.
He's the sole reason we lost. Warren was the only player who could contain him, and he is not at full strength.

The officiating was not responsible for the loss, but it was exceptionally shitty.
In both halves the fouls were ridiculously lopsided, and the refs did their best to make it look better in like a 30 second stretch. In the second half, it was 10 LSU fouls to 3 for State, before 3 consecutive shite calls on one possession made it 10-6.
Putting all of our bigs on two fouls within the first 10 minutes of the game didn't help our situation.
And I still haven't figured out how a lazy, 7 foot fatass doesn't commit a foul until there are 6 minutes left in the game.

Wasn't it just last week that most "fans" were saying something about just wanting the team to be competitive? Well I'd say the last 2 games were competitive, so why is everyone still complaining?
Don't get me wrong I hate losing as much as the next guy, but in the PMAC today I saw a team who played tough for 37 minutes, it's the closest thing to a complete game we've seen in quite some time.
As for the officials, no they didn't cost us the game, but these past two games have been brutal officiating. They are very, very, very inconsistent. The thing that set me off most today was after Stansbury had been given a coach's box warning he continued to stand outside the box and was never called for it. I guess the refs just didn't have the guts to call the T that was deserved in that instance. Also from where I was sitting (2nd row of the student section)the refs tended to let MSU get away with a lot of back talk about fouls, don't see why they do that one either. Just my $.02 on that situation

When you consistently jack up forced 3 pointers you aint gonna get fouled--STOP WHINING

Not whining, just saying they are inconsistent (but these are SEC officials so that shouldn't come as a shocker to anyone). I actually don't usually have a problem with foul calls, it's usually other violations that aggravate me. It seems like SEC refs can't count to three on most nights (be it traveling or 3 in the lane).

Moral victories are for teams that are not "good enough" for real wins, this was a home game against a short-handed poor team, but guess what, we still had a "moral-victory"....go figure.

if that is is LSU at almost it's best they are absolutely HORRIBLE

You say "moral victory". I say some of our freshmen and young players are growing up.
I want the team to win as much as anyone, but I'm more concerned about how we play.
I was not disappointed with the way we played today sans Garrett Green.
Also, this "poor team" has one of the best point guards in the SEC and probably one of the top 3 pure post players in the SEC.
This was a winnable game. No doubt. Our team just hasn't learned to win games like this yet. We fumbled the ball around in the last three possessions. That is absolutely a mark of an unseasoned team, which is exactly what we are.
Begin worrying if we stop competing, which hasn't happened with the exception of the Ole Miss game at home.

I'll say this, in two plus years of watching Trent's teams that is was one of the best man-to-man defensive performances I've seen. We stayed in front of people better than we've done all year and made them work for the most part. Stringer played by far his best defensive game as a Tiger.

He missed alot of open looks tonight. But I agree, I think he's our best player and will be a good SEC player down the line. He hurt us tonight with all those missed open looks though.
quote:Why the hell was he guarding Sydney even one possession. Each time he was on Sydney was giving a possession away. C'mon Trent, that was ridiculously irresponsible to the team.
Garrett Green pisses me off.
