Why isn't his offer list more impressive? And what are our chances with him?

Ball State
Cincinnati
Missouri
Notre Dame

He's got decent size (6.2 185), and his stats are ridiculous:

Junior year (13 games):
Passing: 372/568 (66%), 5670 yds, 69 TD, 14 INT
Rushing: 164 att, 974 yds (5.9 avg), 16 TD

85 total TDs

ETA: highlights from his sophomore season

His name bears a scary resemblence to a previous great LSU QB.

meh-----he's undersized, plays in a pass happy where he throws the ball ~60x a game, not very elusive, quick, or athletic and the competition he faces is terrible.------we can land a much better prospect.

You never know. It just may be that when this kid was 8-9-10 years old, he heard the name "Matt Mauck" broadcast on national TV (2001 SECCG, 2002 Sugar Bowl, 2002 Florida game?, 2003 SECCG, 2004 Sugar Bowl, and made the connection

I actually re-typed the sentence a few times with and without great. I almost put "game-manager" but didn't feel like typing it all out He was the QB for a team that hadn't won a national championship in almost 50 years so I decided I'd just let him have it. Figured if anyone noticed they'd let me slide.

He may not be in the same league as Bert Jones or Tommy Hodson or Jamarcus, but he did throw 28 TD passes to lead the SEC in 2003 and did something Jones, Hodson, Russell, Wickersham, and Davey never did - win a NC.

Easily rushed out of pocket & late release but otherwise looks beastlike

He doesnt make quick decisions and uses his running ability to buy time in the pocket. Something he couldnt do here

Ditto. He drops back way too deep and seems to be running around in the backfield too much. He wouldn't be able to do that in the SEC -

1. Defenses would eat him alive.
2. Could cause too many offensive penalties (holding, blocks in the back)
3. OL would tire out just running around trying to protect him
4. Throwing motion is slow a little jerky. Takes too long to get rid of the ball.

He may have to take that deep drop and run around because of protection concerns. That could change behind a good o-line.

it's getting sadder and sadder for ND. Now they are considered an 'ok' offer, now. ND has a lot of work to do. I don't know what they can do, except demolish these 'academic' requirements. Their schedule screams for domination, and they can't do it.

I read on andthevalleyshook.com that Maty Mauk is a candidate for an LSU offer, btw.
