Magazine Scans from a German Game Magazine and Game Informer:

Couple of things worth noting:
- Battlefield 3 is NOT Bad Company 3. This is the sequel to the 2005, multiplayer-only PC hit Battlefield 2. It is still a DICE+EA production, though.
- Battlefield 3 will be using Frostbite 2.0, as opposed to the engine used in Bad Company 2, Frostbite 1.5. This essentially means that physics and destruction will be far more epic and realistic, lighting and graphics will be incredible, and sound will be ridiculous as well.

That's all PC information. Is it the same for consoles?

everything but 64-player is confirmed for the consoles IIRC. might be for consoles too though--it's a multi-platform release.

I <3 BF2 on PC and BC2 on 360.
TOTALLY stoked for BF3 on 360

BC2 was fun for a bit, but I need my BF3 fix. hopefully they keep it like 2. I don't really like many video games, and the fact that a six year old one is still fun to me says something about it IMHOFWIWTFMPIIHBWOWYHICSB

All these games in 2011 are raping my wallet.

Edit: console player limit upped from 24 to 32 online

I might build a new gaming rig with tax returns...then I'll get BF3 on PC.
If not...just 360

Can't wait to blow my load on this game.

Consider me pissed. This is lame.

BF2 was basically only a PC game, the only BF2 game on 360 was BF2 modern combat which was a POS.
Consider all of y'all 360 players lucky your even getting a game that will blow BC2 and others away.
And, BF2 was my favorite FPS and still is today, so BF3 will be kickass.

So, this isn't Bad Company 3? This is another story altogether?
Posted on 2/6/11 at 4:13 pm to The Sad Banana
this is the follow-up to the 2005 PC game. tons of people still play it. it blows a majority of today's games out of the water.
ETA: it had no campaign. just straight up multiplayer. this will probably be the closest thing to a COD killer.

Sweet. I remember Modern Combat being shite.
Posted on 2/6/11 at 4:54 pm to The Sad Banana
that's an understatement. but this is a multiplatform of the same game, which will either be awesome or not so great.

The only thing that relieved me of playing BF2 on xbox was the 360 coming out. Which I even took a while to purchase.
BF2 is what got me to stop playing H2
I wouldn't call it a COD killer though. They are different games. BF is going to be huge maps with vehicles and shite

Bad Company 2 is a great game. I wish they'd tighten up the feel if it a bit, but I'm a fan.
Posted on 2/6/11 at 7:43 pm to The Sad Banana
it was fun for awhile, but it got old quick. I got pissed that BC was becoming associated more with the BF name. hopefully BF3 has as much replay value as BF2.
