But we're coming off an 11-2 season and a top 10 finish, and we're ranked top 5 preseason by most publications and even #1 by some. I think Gus Malhzan is proof that being a college coach has more to do with which "network" of friends you have than how smart you are as a coach. This guy was stuck at the highschool level for a long time. Sure Cam Newton might have been the reason for his success, but the idea that one player can beat Nick Saban defenses without a competent offensive coordinator doesn't ring very true to me.
