Why do we never seem to land top LBs?

With Chavis being such a great Defensive coach and a great LB coach, why can't we land a great 4* or 5*? When was the last 5* LB who signed with us?
I thought we were locking down C.J. Johnson?

i thought the whole allure of chavis was to make 3-star guys into great LBs

Maybe you're right! I'd just like to sign a stud LB and then see what Chavis can do...

Half of the NFL is 3 star guys! STFU with comments like these. LBers take time to mature and develope, if they are 5 stars, that ususally means they matured and got strong earlier than the other high school kids and looked like men against boys. But in college, a solid 3 star guy may have just been a little late on maturing and therefore becomes a much better player than the 5 star guy who doesn't get much bigger or better after his high school days.
LBer is truely about finding those diamonds in the rough that have the instinct and the frame, but jsut haven't gained allt eh physical tools they will have 3 yrs later....and go to the NFL like SHEP!

Chevis was actually known for turning Big Safeties into speed lber's.

We have TG committed for next year. We were in with CJ big time until Ole Mi$$ came calling.

theLSUSaint You STFU.
I still think landing a guy you don't have to wait to develop would be nice. You would rather T Magee than CJ Johnson? Kelvin was a great 3* but for ever Shep there is a Darius Ingram...

Luke Sanders was a big recruit and look how that panned out. Same with Cutrera. Neither were great. EJ Kuale and Kenny Hollis are two more examples. All highly touted, but none were great.

the main prob is louisiana...we always turn our best athlets into qb or rb so the great 4 and 5 star guys do not get much time at lb. so we have to geaux outta state for them...and then it gets harder. jmho though.

As is Saban.(Eric Alexander) That concept has worked pretty well for both of them.

There are never any in state. Next year there is a couple.

We just have to give all the other teams hope? This was an issue last year and year before. Run a search and you will find all the theories out there. But basically Louisiana is not producing 4/5 star Lbs

Wait till next year LA is loaded with top-flight LBers

Well to be fair, (According to Scout) there were about 45 LBs this year that were 4* or 5*. There were only 5 LB that were 5 stars this year. AND There was ONLY ONE 3* LB in the state of LA this year.
There are usually very few top LBs produced by LA each year. Its just not a position thats brimming with talent in the state. However, next year there are about 4 very solid LB in the state, with one already committed (Trey Granier).
