Would you trade up to get him if he is available in first 8 picks of 2nd?

from the Senior Bowl Practice Reports thread...
The D-Lineman from UNC isn’t in Mobile, but that doesn’t mean that the talk surrounding the former Tarheel hasn’t spilled over from the East-West Shrine game last week. No question he has talent, but everyone I talk to still isn’t sold that he is going to stick in the NFL once he gets drafted. Still plenty of questions out there.

headcase rep, academic cheating, improprieties with an agent while in school, some stupid facebook stuff, high potential that's been good but never fully delivered up to it on the field
from a scouting report...
Inconsistent... Takes a few too many plays off... Can be a non-factor for long stretches of a game... Questionable motivation and competitiveness... Seldom gives his best effort... Has been called immature... Did not start two games in 2009 (coach's decision)... Will quit once engaged... Plays too high... Loses battles for leverage... Can be slow to locate the ball... A bit of a boom or bust prospect... Needed to play this season and show better consistency and a better motor to work his way into first round discussion... Was suspended for the 2010 season for NCAA rules violation... Character concerns, how much will his involvement with an agent hurt his draft stock?
Dan Pompei after the EW Shrine-
As scouts returned from Orlando late last week after watching the East-West Shrine game, the players they were buzzing about most were North Carolina defensive tackle Marvin Austin and Southern Cal tight end Jordan Cameron.
Austin looked like the best player there, and was difficult to block in pass rush drills. But he also rubbed NFL teams the wrong way in interviews. He remains somewhat of a wildcard in the draft.
Cameron might have helped himself as much as any player, moving up a couple of rounds to the fourth round range by catching the ball well and showing fine movement skills. The drawback with him is he’s not much of a blocker. If he can add some strength and bulk between now and the draft, he might move up even more.
One front office man told me it’s possible that none of the participants in the game will be chosen in the first two rounds of the draft, though Nevada’s Dontay Moch looked like he might be able to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. That could give him a second round spot.

I wouldn't touch Austin with a 10 foot pole in round 2. Round 3 maybe, but I sure as heck wouldn't trade up to get him. The guy is a head case. Is everyone forgetting that he got kicked off his team his senior year? I'm not denying that he has talent, but I question his work ethic and his character seems to be pretty low.

He's worth taking a chance on.
ETA: I will say his on the field performance has yet to match his talent. He's going to tear up the combine and people will forget he missed last year.

Yeah after reading the character issues.........I don't even see Payton thinking about him in the 2nd.
