we have, according to ESPN, the 2nd best center prospect in the country coming to LSU next year.
Do you guys remember what Bass did for LSU? So we don't have a point guard. We never had a point guard during Brady's tenure. His teams were built on defense and rebounding. We had some of the worst guards in SEC history, but many times, we won in spite of them.
Well guess what. We don't have a dominant rebounder or a shot blocker on this team. Guess what we have coming in next year...
We also add Justin Hamilton, and I know everyone is tempering their expectations because of Malcolm White, but Hamilton produced in the Big XII, and he was one of the top offensive rebounders in the conference.
Also, we have the best young guard prospect in my LSU lifetime in Ralston Turner. I was pre-Chris Jackson.
I can agree that we need a point guard, but dear lord, we're one of the youngest teams in the country, which is a direct result of the shitty APR Brady left us with and Louisiana not producing any top-flight talent since Greg Monroe.
I'm not sure how you can draw any conclusions based off of this season.

"wait 'til next year" ... but the problem is, next year never comes. I haven't had the opportunity to watch much LSU basketball this year, but what I saw today was not very promising.

Brady's 1st team was just as talent deprived as this one and they were actually smaller but they competed. This team hasn't competed well on multiple occasions so far this season.

Yeah...wait till next year, then the year after that and the year after that. I'm so sick of hearing dumb asses like your self say this is who we have coming in next year so just wait till next year. WTF are you going to say next year??? Let me guess, you're going to say wait till next year aren't you?
Wait for next year is for Losers!

After all your proddings of Miles, I find it hilarious you are supporting Trent Johnson.
True polar opposites in terms of their image + production.

Let's just hope we can hire Brady back

You lose all credibility when you use Brady as an excuse. Despite inheriting only five scholarship players, Brady had us in the final sixteen in his third season.
TJ inherited an SEC Championship team from Brady. It may be true that our APR was bad when TJ arrived but how does that compare to impending sanctions that Brady inherited?
TJ will have time to prove whether he is the coach or not. So get tough and get over it.
In addition no coach with Johnson's reputation was interested in the job when Brady was hired.

He better be that good tuptiger and Hamilton and Isaac better be good and ready to play right away because we have waaaay to many kids on scholarship right now that really can't play at this level and I question by their progress to this point whether they ever will be.
I really like Turner and think Derenbecker has good upside offensively.
But the thing that concerns me is Trent insists on running an offense designed to start with running Stringer off high ball screens and the kid just ain't quick enough nor does he have the ball handling skills to execute out of that set.
As long as we run that offense and Stringer's the point we'll have trouble getting the ball to the folks who can score and that mitigates the effectiveness of the offense in general.
Man I want to think better times are coming but it's just getting harder to see the light.
