even i can get behind a 4-team in CFB, even with my hardline anti-playoff stance

playoffs aren't bad, but giving entitlements to too many teams is bad

the 4-team playoff in CFB has little chance of occurring without another split in D1A

Under that scenario this year, the 14-2 Pats could still have had to play (and potentially lost to) an 11-5 team.

Hopefully it happens some way. I just think with a two-team championship, although the right two teams may get in according to formula, there are too many uneven variables (mainly conference and schedule strength, home/away schedule) to be able to say that #2 is better than #3. Just let them play it off.

If you aren't in the top 4, tough luck.
