WWL... great analogy for Saban vs. Miles

Caller says... "Saban finished what Dinardo started... Miles has kept it up".
Deke and Bobby say, "what's harder ... a) to lose weight or (b) to keep it off.
After asking a second time the caller says..."to keep it off".
Bobby and Deke's conclusions.... Miles > Saban because he has been able to MAINTAIN the program at a high level over the past 6 years.
I tend to agree with this... but final judgment will come at the end of 2011 season....
IF LSU has more wins than AL --- Miles > Saban... if AL has more wins than LSU - Saban > Miles.... we shall see.
Obviously... I am happy about Miles staying... personally I think he intended to stay all the time... just couldn't give up all his negotiating power by saying it publically.
His meeting with his UM buddy may in a way have actually been just a formality.

this is a horrible conclusion...it's implying that saban would not have been able to maintain the program, which is absurd

I don't want to be on the same side as Deke in very many arguments. He's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Absolutely. Deke and Bobby ... 2 of Louisiana's best and brightest.

Miles better than Saban in some aspects such as relationships with players, former players, administrators, high school coaches, assistant coaches, parents. Miles is equal to Saban in recruiting. Miles equal to Saban in keeping a clean program. Saban may be a little better coach, but overall i'll take Miles because of his character and a want to have victory.

Almost as absurd as stating with certainty that CNS will sustain a program over a 6 year period. He has yet to do it, therefore we do not know with certainty.
Opinions that Les Miles is a better HC for FBS football than Nick Saban are debateable, but certainly not absurd.

Personally, I have to question a man who doesn't see it in his personal duty to hear out what his former team has to say, if for no other reason, then just respect and well wishes. But see, that's the kind of MAN that Les Miles is, and it's in his nature to try and do the right thing by all concerned.
