Hear me out why I think he's the best man for the job.

First off, his name is Troy, which guarentees he's a cool guy and is thus a good recruiter.

He was a sucessful OC at multiple schools, including a few schools in BCS conferences, and OC for the Houston Texans. He's run a number of different offenses, all of them being successful. He was also a QB coach.

He was an offensive and defensive assitant in the NFL, meaning he knows the game well. Know most notably as the OC for the Texans in the NFL.

He's never won fewer than 8 games at AF, which is pretty good as I would think they have a hard time recruiting the best athletes because you actually have to go into the military after college if you go to AF.

Simply put, the Troy Calhoun hiring earns my full endorsement. Another good choice would be Malzahn. I know I've been one to argue against hiring a coach with little HC experience, but Malzahn is the defacto head coach at Auburn anyway so I'd support his hiring.

Well, you can laugh, but Calhoun is one hell of a coach. And I know it's not really a factor, but if you hired Calhoun, Aggies would melt down because we'd lose our Defensive Coordinator to USAFA as H.C.

I guarentee you he wouldn't be running the triple option at LSU. He was an OC at Wake Forest, where he ran a pro-style offense that was the best in the ACC. He ran a pro-style offense in the NFL as well. He would run a pro-style offense at LSU and probably be very successful with it.

Calhoun is a fantastic coach and the Rant would mistakenly think he would run the same offense here and meltdown.

Win and win for me

He's a fantastic coach.

The only thing that would worry me is that he may be a stepping stone guy looking to get to be a head man in the NFL (if he's not already hired in to the league this year).

IDK. I think he would've stayed in the NFL if he wanted to be an NFL coach. AF is his alma mater, so maybe he's really happy there. I'd at least have him on a list of names for HC.

for this to happen, he'd have to have success at LSU. I believe that LSU is better off with Les, but hope Calhoun gets a look if Les leaves.
