Hiring Malzahn is a horrendous notion. He's never been a college football head coach, he isn't that far removed from high school coaching, and his entire reputation revolves around a single amazing talent - Cam Newton. LSU once made the mistake of hiring a coach who's most impressive feats were the product of one superlative individual player. It was an epic disaster.

once again this stupid thread got you to reply? and try spelling stupid right

also wouldn't be against Malzahn as HC. as long as he brought in a solid DC I think the team would be good.

He had the No. 1 offense in the country at Tulsa.

put up a productive offense with Arkansas(yes i realize they had McFadden, Felix, Monk, Hillis, etc..) but he was able to utilize all their talent.

put up some of the nations top offenses at Tulsa.

and look what he's doing at Auburn even without Cam last year the offense was pretty good.

Please. This is a man who didn't even coach above the HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL until 2006. He's only been out of the HIGH SCHOOL coaching ranks for five years. I don't care how many state championships he won at Spring Dale. Nor am I impressed by the fact that he was able to generate potent offenses in Conference USA. Finally, let's be frank, if Auburn didn't have Cam Newton, they wouldn't be in the NC. It's not as if Malzahn's system would be equally effective with any quarterback. He's not Mike Leach.

It would be a stupendous error to hire a head coach with ZERO experience in that position who is FIVE YEARS removed from frickING HIGH SCHOOL COACHING. Disaster.

For one it's Springdale not Spring Dale. And he didn't even win that many state championships there. Had his 1 in 2005 and I think that was it at SHS. Fell 1 game short in 04 and got to state twice I think.

While Malzahn was at Arkansas, Tulsa, and now Auburn how many games of his have you watched?

I'm quite certain I watched every single game he has coached at Auburn and Arkansas other than those which happened to conflict with LSU games. I'm sure I saw several of the nationally televised Tulsa games as well.

The point is this: being a head coach requires a greater skill set than merely concocting an offensive scheme and making playcalls. You have to be able to recruit personnel from all phases of the game, manage special teams, manage the defense, manage the clock, interact effectively with adminstrators and boosters, and so on. Malzahn has ZERO experience doing that at the college level. Moreover, he has only OBSERVED those activities at the college level for five years. As young as he is, Muschamp has more experience in the college ranks than Malzahn.

Can't hire Malzahn. It won't happen, in any event. The LSU AD isn't dumb enough to repeat the Archer experiment.
